The recovery code
The secret code that proves the bot is yours. How to get it, keep it, and use it to recover or transfer your bot.
On this page
The recovery code is your bot's owner password. Whoever has this code can become the bot's owner, from any Discord account. Whoever doesn't have it cannot, even with a proof of purchase.
It is what saves you if you lose access to your Discord account, if it is hacked or banned: with the code, you get your bot back on another account.
One rule: don't lose it
Keep the code somewhere other than Discord (a password manager, a piece of paper…) and show it to nobody. A lost or stolen code is not replaced: no claim is accepted, and losing the code means losing the bot.
Getting your code
Do this as soon as your bot is online, with the Discord account that bought it:
- Open a private conversation with your bot (click its name, then Message).
- Type
+recup. Use your bot's prefix:*recupfor an Ecrownomy,;recupfor a Crow Tools. - The bot sends you your code. Write it down right away: it is erased from the message after 10 minutes.
Good to know
- The command only works in private messages, and only for the bot's owner.
- Only one code exists at a time: until it has been used, the bot won't give another.
Getting your bot back on another account
Lost your account? From your new account, you have two options:
- By private message to your bot, if you share a server with it: send it
+recupfollowed by your code, for example+recup aB3-x9Kq. The bot recognises you as its owner at once. - From the CrowBots server, if you no longer share a server with the bot, or if it is offline: use the
/recupcommand with your code. If its token no longer works, the/changetokencommand then restarts it with a new one.
Either way, the code you used is deleted: type +recup in private messages straight away to get a new one, and write it down.
Transferring your bot to someone
To give away or sell your bot, type +buyer @member. The bot asks for your recovery code to confirm, then that person becomes the new owner.
It is final
You lose all your rights over the bot, and your code is deleted. The new owner must type +recup to get their own.
Only want someone to help you run the bot? Don't transfer anything: make them an owner with +owner @member (see permissions).
The process is the same on all three bots, each with its own prefix.
